SIX LESSONS TO OVERCOME FEAR
1. Nothing is as scary as it seems; our brains create worst case scenarios.
2. Fear=growth. If it scares you, do it! If it doesn’t, you’re not dreaming big enough.
3. The only cure for fear is action. Shoot for the stars, and show yourself that you CAN do anything you put your mind to. Don’t let yourself down.
4. What’s the best thing that could happen? What’s the worst? In a lot of cases, the worst thing that can happen, is someone can say no, and you’ll be at the same place you are in today. The best? You transform your life, and a year from now you are in a vastly different place.
5. YOU get to choose your experiences, YOU get to create reality. Being afraid is a choice.
6. You don’t have to be fearless, but be BRAVE. You CAN do it. I believe in YOU.

💥 Still stretching those tight hip flexors? Maybe it’s time to change up your approach. If you like stretching that’s fine but maybe try a different way of stretching that involves movement, and combine this with strengthening exercises. Tight muscles are usually weak muscles, and typically you can stretch these areas all day long but they won’t change much!

1️⃣ Tri-Planar Hip Flexor Stretch: get in your typical hip flexor stretch position but instead of sitting there stagnant, go in 3 planes of motion. Lean through the hips moving forward and back, side to side, and rotate.

2️⃣ Bridge Hip Flexor March: wrap a band around your feet and get up in a bridge position. Now alternate marching with your legs while keeping your hips parallel to the floor and core engaged. This not only strengthens the hip flexors but promotes hip extension by activating the glutes too!

WATER WEIGHT by @hooperfit
Our bodies are not mostly composed of fat, they're mostly composed of water. Therefore, most of the weight changes we see from day to day are water changes, not fat changes.
.
A few reasons you see fluctuations on the scale:
.
▪️Recent increase in cardio (increases blood volume). This is a biggie, can add up to 5 lbs in some people, just plasma + new red blood cells, & can cause a month-long stall in scale weight.
▪️Recent increase in weight-lifting (sore muscles retain water); eventually there will also be muscle gain, though that is a slower process (weeks)
▪️Any soreness, injury or bruising (causes inflammation = local water retention)
▪️Illness (ditto)
▪️Change in timing of dinner to a later time than usual, and/or addition of a late night snack even if you ate the same total # of daily calories. The timing alone has an effect. Later eating means that the gut will still be holding “gut water” used in the digestive process during the next morning’s weigh-in. Even a 1 hr later dinner time can affect scale weight the next morning
▪️Single unusually large meal within past 5 days - large meals take multiple days to digest, during which not only the meal itself, but also a mass of water equivalent to ~2x the meal’s weight, will all be parked in your gut for digestion.
▪️Eating more carbs after a period of not having had many carbs (causes liver & muscles to increase glycogen stores; each 1g of glycogen is structurally packaged with 4g water so you end up with water weight)
▪️change in dietary fiber (affects “poop weight”)
▪️change in pooping frequency (obvious reasons)
▪️Recent exposure to heat (hot yoga, exercising in heat)
▪️ Menstrual cycle / birth control - about 1/3 of women have noticeable swings in weight during the week before menstruation / week of menstruation.
▪️increase in sodium intake
.
In short, trust your calorie deficit. If you are tracking your food accurately and are really eating at a caloric deficit, there is no way NOT to be losing fat. The fat loss is just hidden on the scale by the myriad causes of fluctuations in water & digestive waste.

Can we just take a minute, pause, and remember we love each other?
Over a year ago, Jody and I were in one of the biggest arguments we have ever had. We had been through SO many difficulties over previous years and had overcome some major obstacles in life and marriage, yet for some reason, this particular December we were letting absolutely everything about one another get under our skin. We let this argument drag on for weeks. It was painful but neither of us wanted to give in and apologize. (We’re hard headed, just to fill you in.) Finally, one night I felt so lonely. I had honestly forgotten what our argument was about to begin with, so I said to Jody, “I know we’re mad at each other, but can we just do it anyways?” 🙈(We’re married.. calm yoself) In that moment, we both burst into laughter. It was an ice breaker after many nights of not even speaking. I missed him. I apologized. He apologized. After that our argument was over. We both realized what we were arguing about wasn’t really a big deal and loving each other was more important.
It’s hard to drop your pride and say “I’m sorry,” but it’s worth it and I don’t know why I don’t do it more often. 🤷🏼♀️ Loving one another is what it’s all about.
Of course, this story brings me to God’s forgiveness. The grace He shows even when He is always the “right One” blows me away. We can come to Him every single time we mess up and know we’re going to receive an “I forgive you,” instead of an “I told you so.” He would technically have the right to be that way, being perfect and all, but He isn’t! 😭 Knowing He readily offers His forgiveness makes sharing your failures with Him such a lighter burden to bear. He knows our hearts, every single part, and loves us. He makes repentance so simple, and it leads into a life of freedom from carrying the weight of sin. He even sent His Spirit to empower us to have victory in those areas of life where we struggle! He is just that good.
So if you’re currently going through a conflict... remember you love each other. It’s probably why you’re arguing to begin with. Let that love for one another saturate your heart and bring you joy. Genuine love covers (cont in comments👇🏼) - 5,770

I’ve had anxiety for a long time. But a few months ago, I was having anxiety attacks almost every day. At this point in my life I felt like I had lost all control of my emotions, and I wasn’t comfortable with myself from the inside out. I felt empty, and broken.
Although it may sound cliché, fitness saved me. The simple act of going to the gym helped me build myself up physically, but more importantly mentally. In the gym, I was finally able to feel in control. I realized I am stronger than anything life may throw my way, and I found myself again.
It has been a long road, but I’m finally starting to feel comfortable in my own skin. The amount of support I’ve gotten from each of you is more than I could ever ask for. And I’m so forever grateful for everyone that’s supported me through my ups and downs. Each day I try to be better, most importantly for you.
Mental health is SO very important. If you’re going through a struggle, don’t be afraid to talk about how you’re feeling. Support makes a world of a difference. I will always be here for any of you.

I Did a Photoshoot On My Period & 5-6 Lbs Heavier Than My Last Photoshoot.
Want to love your body? Try loving it in ALL of it’s stages, not just at your leanest or when you had the best abs.
I didn’t expect to do a last minute shoot in WZA. But I showed up and fucking👏🏼rocked👏🏼that👏🏼shit.
I’m not trying to be “lean” at this moment in time. My only concern is that I want to FEEL GOOD, STRONG, and HEALTHY right now.
I have taken, taken, and taken some more from my body this past year between shoulder surgery, transitioning off birth control, and recovering from over-exercising and over-training. I moved cities, quit my job, started my own business, and then started ANOTHER business. I’ve traveled like crazy and bounced all over the globe.
My current feels are that i want to be energized and focused so I can write amazing content, feel good inside and outside the gym, move big and heavy weights, grow my companies, help people, and regain muscle and strength.
So-fucking-WHAT if I’m the “face” of an aesthetics-based gym program & could be a lil more shredded than I currently am.
We’ve got to get past this notion that our body needs to change or look a certain way in order for us to love it. WE ARE WORTH LOVING RIGHT NOW, GUYS. Right freaking now.
Each of you has a BEAUTIFUL & AMAZING body - but that belief system can only come from you. It can’t from other people, your spouse, or strangers on the internet. Just y-o-u.
ps: if you know me, heavy eye makeup is life and I don’t ever wear lipstick. Needless to say, freaking neon barbie pink is a lil out of my comfort zone, but I diggg.
pss: I admire you who party. I didn’t party & I just now feel like a person 4 days removed from WZA.
Also: hand tattoos are next-level gangster, wish I had done this sooner. The best part is my parents not giving me shit at 29 for showing up & looking how I want to look (muscles, tattoos, piercings, and all) b/c they know I’m beyond happy & living and loving life♥️

Se hoje é dia de TBT, vou postar uma foto nova de um dia inesquecível e que, com certeza, um dos melhores dias da minha vida. Sempre fui em eventos relacionados ao esporte, e sempre me imaginei em um dos palcos desses eventos grandes. Mas para subir nele, tive que passar por vários degraus: Estreantes > Paulista > Brasileiro > Classificação. E teve mais: problemas pessoais e familiares, rotina pesada, conciliar o trabalho com a preparação, corrida atrás de dinheiro para custear os gastos, etc... Enfim, passamos por todos esses degraus (com o apoio de muita gente a quem sou muito grato) e vivi esse sonho, um momento inesquecível! ESSE ANO CONTINUAREI LUTANDO PARAR VIVER MAIS MOMENTOS COMO ESSE!
