Beginner workout for your first day ever at the gym! Follow this routine to help you get over that Day One #gymtimidation (& to fit right in!) 💁🏽‍♀️ _ 1️⃣Lat pull down 3 x 10 Okay obv you don’t have to jump up to grab the bar unless you’re as short as I am 🙄, but even if you do, just OWN it. First, always make sure you adjust the locks to make sure you lock your legs in. Even people who’ve been at the gym for a while don’t seem to do this 🤦🏽‍♀️ _ 2️⃣Shoulder press 3 x 10 Get the most out of these by bringing your DBs down to your earlobes! _ 3️⃣Box squats 3 x 12 The next step to improving a decent body weight squat is being able to go lower, & box squats are great to start understanding depth, & maintaining form. _ 4️⃣Incline push ups 3 x 5 I don’t recommend knee push ups because I feel like they don’t contribute to progress. Instead, I recommend incline push ups, which are a great way to start. You could even start from the wall, & decrease the incline as you get stronger. _ Machine assisted moves If your gym has good equipment, they’re a great way to start off, since they’re relatively safer if you don’t quite know what you’re doing with free weights. _ 5️⃣Tricep cable pushdown 2 x 10 Keep your elbows close & don’t let them drift from your sides. _ 6️⃣Hammer curl 2 x 10 Same rule as above: Keep your elbows tucked in! Aaand pick a weight that doesn’t make you sway back & forth. #nopeerpressure _ Remember guys, it’s ridiculous to think you have to “get fit before I join the gym”. Don’t compare yourself with people who’ve been working out longer than you have. We ALL started somewhere. _ You may not like what you see in the mirror on Day One, & you may think that that’s what everyone else sees too. But I promise you, nobody at the gym cares abt what anyone else is doing; we’re all too busy looking at ourselves. 💁🏽‍♀️ _ Even if you’ve been at the gym a while, but are too #gymtimidated to venture from the cardio section to the weights, GO FOR IT and just OWN it. _ And even if you’ve been a gym rat for years, nobody cares how fit/ fat you are. No one is better than the other at the gym. Respect each other. Welcome to your happy place, newbies 💋 @missshivangibhatnagar missshivangibhatnagar Shivangi Bhatnagar
