Today we ventured to the LES to try a cute little studio called @plankfitness for the first time! This semi-private studio offers pilates, cardio & TRX/strength training classes. We tried “plank pilates” which is a classic, tower pilates class. Right away we got major speak easy vibes. This place is all business in the front, but with an edgy oasis downstairs. It’s definitely an “IYKYK” type space … the entrance is quite understated. Classes are kept small here, with just 5 towers, so you get a ton of attention no matter how full class gets. We loved this. It’s particularly great for beginners because of this! Our instructor (Sky) was incredibly welcoming … seemed to be a very judgement-free zone, which can be a rare find when it comes to more classic style pilates. Did we feel the burn? Yes, on many moves! Did it burn like crazy? No — but this isn’t a ‘burnout’ style class. We did some pulsing, stretching, and tons of stabilization exercises using the tower & other props. This class fits in our ‘longevity’ class category: it’s a workout that doesn’t just exist for aesthetic reasons (although it IS quite toning) but even more so to better your body in other way — i.e. lengthening the spine, improving posture, building your core to support your back & prevent injury, etc. A single class here is $40 (FIRST TIMERS get 2 for $40!) which is p good for a 55 min semi-private, in our opinion. Sadly, it’s not on CP, but with how small it is, we can understand why. We’d be so curious to try out the other classes here … have you guys been? xx #sssssweats @sweatsandthecity sweatsandthecity SWEATS & THE CITY

I love the idea of a longevity category!! That is such a great way to put it. I always tell my clients that it’s like “brushing your teeth for your body” and it makes me so happy that sentiment is catching on 🙏

Like the concept of longevity workouts- not always about the calories burned in that moment!
